Grain Growers Association to Host EPA Tour Virtually
North Dakota Ag Connection - 09/11/2020

The North Dakota Grain Growers Association is once again hosting its annual E-Tour, during which EPA officials from Washington and Denver visit North Dakota to gain insight on the state's environmental stewardship. Usually held in June, this year's event is taking place from Sept. 14 to 16 and will feature several stops around the Fargo area.

The tour will kick off with an informational presentation from North Dakota Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring. This will be followed by an agriculture roundtable discussion hosted by Region 8 EPA Administrator Greg Sopkin and Agricultural Advisor to the EPA Administrator Carrie Meadows. The following days will feature several farm visits around the Fargo area and presentations at NDSU's Northern Crops Institute.

NDGGA President Tom Bernhardt says the tour serves as a vital bridge for communication between the EPA and North Dakota agriculture stakeholders.

"The E-Tour provides EPA representatives an opportunity to experience first-hand the equipment and practices we use, which helps them make educated decisions when it comes to drafting policy that affects us," he said. "Our tour has become one of the most sought after tours of its kind among EPA officials so we're glad we are able to continue it this year considering the circumstances."
